Peter G. Fitzgerald

Peter G. FitzgeraldChairman

Peter G. Fitzgerald is the Founder and Chairman of Chain Bridge Bank, N.A., in McLean, Virginia. He was previously a United States Senator from Illinois (1999-2004) and a state Senator in the Illinois General Assembly (1993-1998). Prior to his election to the U.S. Senate in 1998, Fitzgerald was a banker and bank lawyer. He earned his A.B. degree from Dartmouth College, cum laude, in 1982, studied as a Rotary Scholar at the Aristotelian University in Greece between 1982 and 1983, and received his J.D. from the University of Michigan School of Law in 1986.  He is a Trustee of the National Constitution Center, Co-Chairman of the Capital Campaign for the American Philological Association, and a member of the Leadership Council of the McLean Community Foundation. Peter Fitzgerald lives in McLean with his wife, Nina Fitzgerald (A.B., Smith College; M.Sc., London School of Economics; JD, Harvard Law School) and son, Jake.

John J. Brough

John J. BroughPresident & CEO
Mr. Brough has nearly two decades of banking and financial services experience, most recently with James Monroe Bancorp, Inc., and James Monroe Bank, where he held several positions, including executive vice president and chief financial officer. Prior to that, Mr. Brough was chief financial officer – Thrift Division for SLM Corporation (Sallie Mae). He has also held various positions with First Virginia Banks, Inc., rising ultimately to senior vice president, regional controller, and cashier. Mr. Brough has an extensive background in bank management, financial accounting, asset and liability management, banking operations, and other regulatory matters. Mr. Brough was raised in Arlington, VA, and received his MBA and bachelor’s degrees from Georgetown University. Mr. Brough currently resides in McLean with his wife and three children.

 

Joseph M. Fitzgerald, CPA

Mr. Fitzgerald has more than 30 years of experience in financial services, in both the public and private sectors. He is currently president of Fitzgerald Financial LLC, providing risk-management and regulatory consulting services. He has also served as a national bank examiner with The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, the supervisor of US national banks. He has authored numerous publications on credit and risk management and has presented or trained for various banks, associations, and trade groups. He earned his BA from the University of Notre Dame and received a Certificate of Accountancy from the University of Pittsburgh. He is also a graduate of the Colgate-Darden School of International Banking at the University of Virginia. Mr. Fitzgerald has volunteered with the McLean–Great Falls Babe Ruth League as a coach and tournament director. He lives in McLean with his wife and family.

Mr. FitzGerald founded FitzGerald Properties, through which he owns and manages approximately 500 residential and commercial units around the Washington metropolitan area. After graduating from the University of Virginia where he was a varsity basketball player, he served as a pilot in the US Navy. He has served on the board of trustees for the Landon School, and currently serves on several committees at UVA. Mr. FitzGerald is an active member of the McLean community, having served as president and director of several civic and youth organizations. He has also held numerous positions over almost 30 years with the McLean Little League, from coach to vice president. Mr. FitzGerald is a fourth-generation Washingtonian living in Chevy Chase, MD, with his wife. He has four adult children and seven grandchildren.

 

Robert L. Hahne, CPA

Mr. Hahne worked with Deloitte & Touche and its predecessor firm, Deloitte, for more than 40 years, last serving as a managing partner. He has testified before the US Congress and appeared as an expert witness before the US district courts, federal agencies, and approximately 40 state regulatory commissions. He is the co-author of Accounting for Public Utilities, and numerous articles and presentations. Mr. Hahne graduated from Central Methodist University in economics and completed additional accounting work at Washington University in St. Louis and the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. He and his wife live in the McLean area and have three sons. He has been active in youth baseball, the high school boosters and his church. He is the current president of the Rotary Club of McLean and treasurer of Partner for Surgery, a support group for medical missions to Guatemala.

 

Philip F. Herrick

Mr. Herrick was a founding director of Heritage Bank in 1987 and served on its board of directors until it was sold to Cardinal Financial Corporation. At that time, he became a director of Cardinal Bank - Potomac. He also served as a director of Cardinal Bank, NA, Cardinal Financial Corporation’s lead bank. Mr. Herrick was a tennis professional at Congressional Country Club in Potomac, MD, for 15 years, and has been a private investor in real estate for 40 years. He currently owns a number of residential investment properties in the local area. He is a member of the McLean Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Herrick resides in McLean with his wife, Carole, who has written several books on the history of McLean.

 

Thomas E. Jacobi

Mr. Jacobi started Langley Photo & Digital, a McLean-based retail photo and camera store in 1982.  The business has grown to a chain of four stores with locations in McLean and Alexandria, VA, Washington, DC, and Potomac, MD. Mr. Jacobi was a Rotary Club member for over 13 years, holding various positions and serving several terms on its board of directors. He has been an active participant with the Greater McLean Chamber of Commerce for over 25 years, also holding board positions. Mr. Jacobi twice received the Outstanding Small Business Award from the Greater McLean Chamber of Commerce.  Actively involved in the community, Mr. Jacobi lives in Falls Church with his two children.

 

Delmar J. Lewis

Mr. Lewis has more than 35 years experience in executive management and the design, development, testing, implementation of user data systems and large-scale communication technology. In 1978, Mr. Lewis was the founder, Chairman, and Chief Executive Officer of Advanced Technology Systems, Inc. (now ATSC), a McLean based information technology company. In 2008, Mr. Lewis founded and is the Chairman and CEO of McLean Mortgage Corporation, a locally owned, and independently operated, residential mortgage lender that is headquartered in Vienna, VA. Mr. Lewis resides in McLean, VA.

 

Jon Monett

Mr. Monett was the founder of Telemus Solutions, an intelligence firm specializing in the development, application and use of technologies for a broad spectrum of US national security programs. Originally from California, Mr. Monett moved to McLean in 1973. Mr. Monett has an intimate knowledge of the intelligence profession, process and systems, both in the United States and abroad. Mr. Monett brings to the bank a solid understanding of technical and information security, and the needs and wants of small business. Besides his consulting practice Mr. Monett runs the non-profit QL+ Program, dedicated to the development of technology to improve the quality of life of veterans injured in the line of duty. Mr. Monett has an Engineering degree from California State Polytechnic University in San Luis Obispo, California and a Masters Degree from George Mason University in International Transactions. Mr. Monett resides in McLean with his wife.

 

Terence P. O’Connor, CPA

Mr. O’Connor is a partner with the McLean-based accounting firm of O’Connor & Desmarais, PC.  He earned his BS from Miami University (Ohio) in Accounting, and is a Certified Public Accountant. He specializes in tax matters related to small businesses and professionals. He is a member of the Langley High School Boosters, serving as president for two years, and treasurer for the past six years. Mr. O’Connor served on the Board of Governors at Army Navy Country Club and was a member and officer of the McLean Rotary Club for six years. He also served as a coach and volunteer for McLean Youth Soccer. Mr. O’Connor resides in McLean with his wife and family.

 

Philip A. Odeen

Mr. Odeen is chairman of AVAYA, Inc., and serves on the boards Northrop Grumman Corporation, AES Corporation, and Convergys Corporation.  He is also active in business and community activities. He chairs the Henry M. Jackson Foundation, which supports defense-related medical research. Mr. Odeen retired as chairman of TRW in 2002, which he joined in 1997 when it acquired BDM, where he served as president and chief executive officer. Before joining BDM, Mr. Odeen was vice chairman, management consulting services, at Coopers & Lybrand. Earlier, he served as managing partner of the firm’s public-sector practice. Mr. Odeen graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of South Dakota. He was a Fulbright Scholar to the United Kingdom, and earned a master’s degree from the University of Wisconsin.

 

Elizabeth M. O’Shea

Ms. O’Shea received her BA in education from Northwestern University and her JD from Fordham University. She was a securities and real estate lawyer at the New York law firm of Brown & Wood, LLP (now Sidley Austin, LLP). Ms. O’Shea is now a homemaker and mother of five children who is active in many school and civic organizations throughout the McLean community. For the past three years, she has chaired the fundraising efforts for McLean Little League, raising over $100,000 annually for youth baseball. Ms. O’Shea also serves on the Board of Directors for the McLean Little League. She resides in McLean with her husband and family.

 

Paul Shiffman

Mr. Shiffman is senior partner and president of Shiffman & Ricci, PC, and a litigator with extensive trial experience in state and federal courts in the District of Columbia and Virginia. He is admitted to the District of Columbia Bar, the Virginia Bar, the US Supreme Court, the Virginia Supreme Court, the Military Court of Justice, the US Court of Appeals and the US Court of Claims. Mr. Shiffman is an adjunct professor at American University’s Washington College of Law and a past trustee of Landon School in Bethesda, MD. He is a member of the Cosmos Club and the United States Supreme Court Historical Society. Mr. Shiffman has volunteered with McLean Little League for almost 40 years, serving as president, board member, coach and manager. He has three children and five grandchildren and lives in McLean.

 

Benita Thompson-Byas

Ms. Thompson-Byas is Vice President of Marketing for Thompson Hospitality, L.P., the largest minority owned food service company in the United States. Ms. Thompson-Byas is responsible for all phases of marketing which entails developing marketing plans, conducting surveys, creating and executing promotions, and working with food committees. She also serves as Thompson Hospitality’s Community Relations Director, coordinating the company's charitable initiatives. In addition to her marketing expertise, Ms. Thompson-Byas possesses operational experience having managed a full service restaurant for two years. She holds a B.A. in English from the University of Virginia's College of Arts and Sciences. Ms. Thompson-Byas resides in Potomac Falls, Virginia with her husband and two children.

 

W. Michael Wheat

Mr. Wheat is owner and founder of Wheat’s Lawn and Custom Landscape, Inc., the largest full-service residential landscape company in Northern Virginia.  A lifelong resident of McLean, Mr. Wheat is committed to improving and giving back to the community through a number of different volunteer projects.  Wheat’s Care to Help Program reaches out to individuals in the community who are physically or financially unable to maintain their landscapes. Additionally, Mr. Wheat actively volunteers with youth sports, schools, and local government to support a wide range of community efforts, including the Town of Vienna Beautification Commission and the McLean–Great Falls Babe Ruth League. Mr. Wheat has also developed a Volunteer Scholarship to recognize outstanding volunteer service in a student in the community. He resides in McLean with his wife and family.

David M. Evinger

Mr. Evinger has over 15 years of commercial banking and risk-management experience. He worked at James Monroe Bank, most recently as a senior vice president and chief credit officer, until it was acquired in 2006 by Mercantile Bancshares Corporation. During his career, Mr. Evinger has focused his efforts on credit, lending, and risk-management strategies for a private investment fund, institutional lenders such as Freddie Mac, and community banks such as Cardinal Bank, United Bank of Virginia, George Mason Bank, and Franklin National Bank. Mr. Evinger has served on the Arlington Economic Development Commission and is an adviser to Business Finance Group, a local community development lender.  He received BA and MBA degrees from Marymount University in Arlington, VA. He currently resides in Fairfax with his wife and two daughters.

 

John Vogt

Mr. Vogt has three decades of experience in the Washington, D.C. business and political community, serving in leadership and advisory roles at trade associations, lobbying groups, and political action committees. He understands the financial objectives of these organizations and will work to further develop the bank’s offerings geared towards the unique needs of these businesses.

As Executive Vice President and Head of the Washington Office at the global Bond Market Association, Mr. Vogt was responsible for running the government affairs, public policy, research, membership and regional dealer services departments and served as hiring manager and philanthropic leader. During his 14 year tenure at the association, Mr. Vogt significantly increased visibility of the association on Capitol Hill and in the capital markets, the White House and the media. He achieved numerous legislative and regulatory victories and tripled new membership.

Prior to joining the Bond Market Association, Mr. Vogt was Deputy Assistant Secretary for Legislative Affairs at the U.S. Department of the Treasury, serving as a liaison between the Secretary of the Treasury and Congress.

Mr. Vogt earned a B.S. from the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Youth Leadership Foundation and sits on the Board of Trustees of the McLean Citizens Foundation. He is also a Principal of the Council for Excellence in Government and a Member of the Board of Directors of the Bethany Beach Landowners Association. Mr. Vogt is a former Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Bryce Harlow Foundation. He coaches several youth sports teams, including the bank’s AAA Little League team, “The Chain Gang.” He resides in McLean with his wife and two children.

 

Raymond F. Goodrich

A senior banking professional for the past 20 years, Mr. Goodrich is a seasoned professional drawing experience from his work with Allfirst, Provident Bank, and M&T. Mr. Goodrich’s specialties and in-depth knowledge of small business development and lending, consumer lending, sales management and investment and insurance make him a valuable asset in the financial services industry. Mr. Goodrich has an extensive background in design and execution of customer attraction, retention and development strategies. As a passionate leader, he has worked with large and small teams to successfully accomplish objectives. He was raised in both the United States and Europe, is fluent in Italian, French and Spanish, and currently resides with his wife in Vienna, Virginia.

 

Nancy E. Kelly

Ms. Kelly’s banking career spans more than 30 years in the areas of retail banking, deposit operations, and customer service. Originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, she served as Vice President, Branch Administration with Parkvale Bank, the largest state-chartered savings bank in Western Pennsylvania. In addition to managing the bank’s branch network, she was also responsible for the training, security, and facilities departments. During her 15 year tenure with Parkvale, she implemented cross-sell and service initiatives, opened de novo branch offices, and coordinated the integration of branches purchased from other financial institutions. After moving to Northern Virginia with her husband in 2003, Ms. Kelly joined James Monroe Bank as Vice President, Branch Administration and Security Officer until it was purchased by Mercantile Potomac Bank. While at Mercantile Potomac Bank, as Vice President, Risk Management, she was responsible for bank compliance with state and federal regulations. Ms. Kelly currently resides in Alexandria with her husband and enjoys visiting her daughters and grandson in Pittsburgh and Chicago.
