Chain Bridge Bank, N.A. offers six checking account options designed for political organizations: Political Checking and Political Checking Premium for political committees, PAC Checking and PAC Checking Premium for political action committees, and 501(c)(4) Checking and 501(c)(4) Checking Premium for social welfare organizations. These accounts are available to eligible organizations nationwide.

The Political Committees page describes how to open an account and what documents a treasurer needs. Each account summary below lists the minimum opening deposit, the minimum average monthly balance, and the monthly service charge. The Bank’s routing number, used for wires, ACH, and direct deposit, is on the Routing Number page.

Political Checking is the operating account for political committees: campaigns, party committees, joint fundraising committees, and Section 527 organizations.

  4. There is no charge by Chain Bridge Bank, N.A. for the use of another bank’s ATM. The other bank may impose a surcharge. Chain Bridge Bank, N.A. reimburses the first five of these surcharges per cardholder per month.

  6. Remote Deposit Capture is $75 per month with a multi-feed scanner, $50 per month with a single-feed scanner, and $35 per month for the service alone, where the organization connects its own scanner to the Bank’s system. Scanners supplied by the Bank are leased.

The Bank reviews requests from state and local campaigns and party committees individually. Before applying, a committee should confirm availability with the Political Banking Team at (571) 899-6660. The Political Committees page describes the documents a committee needs.

Which account does a Super PAC open?

A Super PAC opens PAC Checking or PAC Checking Premium. The account follows the depositor’s registration and organizing documents rather than the term it uses for itself: a committee registered with the FEC opens the PAC account, and an organization recognized under Section 501(c)(4) opens the 501(c)(4) account. Where a 501(c)(4) organization and an affiliated committee are separate legal entities, each entity opens its own account. Where do 501(c)(4) organizations open an account?

Every 501(c)(4) social welfare organization opens 501(c)(4) Checking or its premium tier, 501(c)(4) Checking Premium, whatever its activity. Section 501(c)(3) organizations and other nonprofits that are not 501(c)(4) organizations open Nonprofit Checking, described on the Business Deposit Accounts page.
